You’re the HR manager for a 24 X 7 call center. Part of your application process requires candidates to declare their ability to work varying work schedules including evenings, nights and weekends. During the interview process, the candidate is again asked to declare their availability and any limitations they may have. They are required to initial the schedule form stating their availability. A recent hire declared on their initial form and during the interview process they were available to work any and all shifts required. After the first week of employment, the new hire requested a work schedule accommodation for religious observation. The employee stated they could not work Saturday or Sundays due to religious observation and requested 30 minutes each day for prayer time.
