Sales Pitch for Your Local Community: Assignment 2 Create an effective sales pitch targeting your local community. The audience is local municipality, wali office or sabla gathering. You should pitch your idea to your audience with the purpose of gaining their approval, support or investment/financial support. • Analyze your audience; • Choose a product or a service (innovative and enticing; real or imaginary; it should meet the needs of your local community and have value for the local people); • Design your speech following the typical organizational structure (opening – introduce yourself, your product + attention grabber + credibility statement + reason to listen; body – provide the details about your product or service; explain what sets you apart from your competition; talk about the characteristics, functions and benefits of your product/service for the audience; close – call for action; inspirational appeal) • Use strong, persuasive language appealing to senses, emotions and imagination of your audience; • Support you sales pitch with illustrations, statistics, research findings, quotations, opinions, descriptions, definitions, etc. • Use visual support (photos, pictures, video excerpts, graphs,etc.) Note: Remember that your sales pitch has to be inspired by and beneficial to your local community (village/willayat) not globally. State clearly who is your audience (villagers? local authorities?) and what is the purpose of your pitch. Make sure you use at least: • 5 stylistic devices • 5 supporting materials • 2 needs • 2 appeals to positive and negative motivation • 1 cognitive dissonance • 1 speaker credibility statement • balance evidence, facts, and statistics with emotional appeals, appeals to senses • use powerful adjectives The duration of your sales pitch is minimum 2.55 minutes and maximum 3 minutes.
