Roni 聽and her family came to the United States when she was 17 years old 聽after her paternal uncle was killed.聽聽She does not remember the details, 聽but she has fleeting memories of 鈥済unshots, people screaming and all 聽the children being pushed into a car and taken to some strange 聽place鈥.聽聽No one in the family was allowed to mention her uncle鈥檚 death 聽once they arrived in the U.S.聽聽Roni also tells you, 鈥淚 hate July 4th in this country. The only way I can cope with that horrific noise, is by taking medicine my doctor gives me鈥. Roni 聽also reports that she has overwhelming fears of abandonment and is 聽terrified of being alone. During the history taking, Roni tells you that 聽when she thinks of her uncle鈥檚 death, she has great relief and, 聽鈥渟ometimes I am glad he is dead. I feel so guilty for admitting that, 聽but he was creepy and I hated being alone with him.鈥 Roni 聽is now married for 4 years to a wonderful man she met in junior 聽college. The couple has a 2 year old daughter whom she loves dearly.聽At 聽times when Roni and her daughter are in the neighborhood playground, 聽Roni has the sensation that she is being stalked and fears that someone 聽is going to hurt her daughter.
