Pick one (1) of the examples of sexual harassment in the workplace and apply the Charge processing to the case and why or why not it should be a sexual harassment charge.

The charging process is why or why not there are grounds for a sexual harassment case. Document the events which prove or disprove the accusation and explain your position.

1. Example – Charging Party (CP) alleges that her supervisor subjected her to unwelcome sexual advances that created a hostile work environment. The investigation into her charge discloses that her supervisor began making intermittent sexual advances to her in June 1987, but she did not complain to management about the harassment. After the harassment continued and worsened, she filed a charge with EEOC in June 1988. There is no evidence CP welcomed the advances. CP states that she feared that complaining about the harassment would cause her to lose her job. She also states that she initially believed she could resolve the situation herself, but as the harassment became more frequent and severe, she said she realized that intervention by EEOC was necessary.

This was one of my first job interviews right after graduating. It was a long process wherein I first had to do an online interview with HR (I was applying to a remote position), prepare a presentation report, and then sit for a face-to-face interview with the management. Before the interview, I mentally and academically prepared myself and knew beforehand that it was going to be a long process. I took one step at a time. The interview with HR was easy and to know more about myself. It was followed by a presentation report where I chose to do a company analysis of Amazon Inc. The face-to-face interview with the management was difficult and required presence of mind. It was industry-related and based on many questions from my graduation years. In the end, I was selected and was later told that the management found my presentation impressive and thought it was executive level.

I have had prior experience in conducting interviews. I was heading a wing of our Students’ Union body and had to build a team that would work throughout the academic year. The approach I personally take during conducting interviews is like having a tête-à-tête with the candidate. I like to ensure that the candidate isn’t petrified of me or go back home with a harsh experience even if he/she doesn’t make it to the next round.

I think that the right approach to impress an interviewer is to have a story-telling approach and to own your experiences.
