How can I solve this situation?
A representative from the Governor’s Conference has requested a block of 200 rooms for
three days at a $75 rate. This conference is attended by people who know how to enter
tain, and the projected food and beverage expenditure per person is significant. During
that same three-day period, a jazz concert is scheduled in the city. In the past, reservations
from this group plus walk-ins have allowed you to achieve 100 percent occupancy (200
rooms) at a $135 rate (rack rate is $95). However, the jazz enthusiasts do not have a pos
itive history of large food and beverage purchases. What would you do, and on what
would you base your decision?
COVID-19 INDUSTRY EFFECTS
As we are aware, the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic has affected all of our lives and many businesses. As the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to fall, both our personal and business lives are returning to some level of normality. However, we had to adjust to many things during the pandemic that are likely to continue after the pandemic.
Practices such as working from home, families leaving large cities, using technology to communicate rather than face-to-face meetings, shopping more online, and using alternate modes of travel such as auto and RVs are some practices and trends that are likely to continue at some level.
These changes and others will have a long-term effect on many industries.
Identify a trend that grew out of our adjustment to life and work during the pandemic that is likely to continue.
Discuss why you believe the trend is expected to continue.
Identify an industry that is positively affected by the trend and explain how;
identify an industry that is negatively affected by the trend and explain how.
If you were a company manager in an industry that is negatively affected, what actions would you take to minimize the negative effects?
Security Measures for Access to Protected Health Information
A New Jersey facility recently had a privacy violation. Sandie, a former employee, was terminated six weeks ago. Apparently, Sandie held a grudge against the hospital for firing her, so she logged into the radiology information system, downloaded PHI from more than 500 patients, and then posted the information on his personal website. One of the current employees, Daisy, who knew Sandie, and just happened to visit Sandie’s website to see if it said what she was doing now. Daisy saw an inflammatory story about the hospital and some PHI posted on the website. Daisy immediately reported the breach to the facilities privacy and security officers.
