Strategic Planning sessions are important, they are where the base decisions for operating a company, division or product are made. So everyone wants to be present – shareholders, management, key operating personnel and other involved individuals. And while you do need to have significant representation from Management, there is an important argument to be made that strategies are better when a wider diversity of opinions and experiences are included in the discussion

But the larger the number of people in the room, the longer the process takes. And we all have real jobs to do. In fact, any number of participants over 15 makes a strategy session overly long and quite unmanageable.
