The assessment should be 1 full page typed double-spaced and should conform to the formatting and content guidelines for the course (available in the syllabus).Prompt:This course will explore the ways in which knowledge of both the historical and contemporary underpinnings of issues have an effect on our sense of how we as citizens can engage problems and promote change. We want this information to influence our understanding of what can and should be done. To this end we study history we carry on complex discussions and we refine our understanding of governmental and societal structures.?For this weekly assessment though we will begin with a much broader question. To start the course we want to begin to recognize and reflect upon how even the seemingly innocuous aspects of culture and civic life tell us things about values and norms. ?So we will turn to the sign featured at the start of the module. What are your impressions of the sign? How might it be perceived by someone new to the State? What aspects of the sign support your answer? How might the sign fit into contemporary discussion being had in the State?
