DISCUSSION POST
Understanding Anatomy and Physiology will not only benefit my future career but is essential to be a psychiatrist. I say this for a few reasons, the first is that a psychiatrist is a medical practitioner who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. However, first, anyone who wants to become a psychiatrist needs to go through medical school, then further specialization to become a fully licensed psychiatrist. Having a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology will help me succeed in medical school and then as a practicing psychiatrist. Anatomy is the study of the structure of the body and the physical relationships between its constituent parts. Physiology is the study of how the body systems work, and the ways in which their integrated activities maintain life and health of the individual. (Waugh, A., Grant, A., & Chambers, G. (2014). Ross and Wilson anatomy & physiology: colouring and workbook. Edinburgh: Churchill Livingstone/Elsevier.) This quote from the reading is the perfect example of why Anatomy and Physiology are important to my career path. Without a firm understanding of anatomy where you learn the structure of the body and the way each part of it works perfectly with another, there is no way to be prepared for medical school. This also applies to physiology where you learn about how each system of the boy works together to keep us all functioning at a healthy level. I look forward to learning about Pathology and pathophysiology to learn how the body functions with abnormalities that cause illness. I also plan to attend a DO medical school or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. The main difference between a DO and a traditional MD is that a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine emphasizes a whole-person approach to treatment and care. While in this course I hope to also prepare for the future Anatomy courses and biology courses that are prerequisites for medical school. My hope in this course is to sharpen my current understanding of the human body and learn more in-depth the different systems of how it all works to prepare myself for further schooling in my career path.

I agree that we must understand how our body system work and applied to real scenarios. Anatomy and physiology are two different things but related to one another. I really love how you related the workplace with the learning of anatomy and physiology. I totally agree that if people dont work together as a whole things will be much harder. Working as a team is much better than working as one. I agree that our body has many organs that have different function, but they all come together to form a system that makes the body function correctly. Also, we must know what is normal for our body to know what is not right and how to fix the problem to get it back to normal. I truly believe that this class will help us a lot in understating how our body work as a whole.
