Abstract: One of the problems that is faced in the health field is all aspects of the health field being covered. For example, you see many dentistry’s, orthopedic doctors, primary care doctors and many other type of physicians that practice everything, but it seems mental health facilities are few and far between. The closet ones that are near by are at least two hours away. Mental health is just as important as physical heath and yet we don’t recognize it as such. “Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act”  www.mentalhealth.gov. It is important to keep it all in check.

Draft outline

1. Reasons why Mental health is just as important as physical health.

2. As the population increases so does the need of mental health facilities.

3. The lack of care due to low economic status not being able to afford to go to the clinics

4. Not being able to drive to the clinics to make the mental health change.

5. Why mental health is important among college students.

The research done on the college students needed to provide more information about what kind of mental illnesses that is going on in the college. I feel there could have been more experiments and research done. There should be more available alternatives to help with the students in trying to get health care help. There needs to be more options for students to be able to find help.

10 Page paper Research in Political Science

10 Page paper Research in Political Science

The above assignment is for my Research in Political Science class and we have a paper do tomorrow that I have yet to start due to an overload of work. My professor has broken the paper up into sections that i have a rubric for and i will attach the documents. The paper is originally 20 pages but i’m asking whomever to do 10 pages and I will finish the rest myself, I just need it to be started. My topic is pretty simple, it’s a comparison and research paper on police brutality in the 1990s vs this present day. My professor is a Doctor and is very strict so keeping in mind how last minute the paper is i still need it done to the best of whoever’s ability, i ask that you provide whatever sources you used so i can list them in the paper so if possible please just go ahead and start a works cited page that i can add to. Anymore questions feel free to communicate with me and i will answer to the best of my ability.

History of Endangered Species Protection

History of Endangered Species Protection

Amid all the hand-wringing about a polarized Supreme Court, note Tuesday’s unanimous decision for regulatory sanity. The case concerned whether a frog’s “critical habitat” can include land where the frog doesn’t live and can’t survive.

Weyerhaeuser v. U.S. Fish and Wildlife involves more than 1,500 acres in Louisiana that the government declared “critical habitat” for the dusky gopher frog, which is protected under the Endangered Species Act. Two problems: The critter hasn’t been seen in those parts for about five decades, and it can’t survive on the land without clearing forest canopy.

The timber company that operates on the land sued on the sensible grounds that the place can’t be critical habitat if the creature would die on arrival. The law allows Fish and Wildlife to designate certain unoccupied areas as critical habit but only if they’re essential to the conservation of the species. The designation threatens development on the land and could cost the owners $34 million by the government’s estimates.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled for the government in a decision with no limiting principle—by the circuit’s logic, a desert could be critical habitat for a fish, as more than a dozen state attorneys general pointed out in an amicus brief to the Supreme Court.

The Supremes ruled for the land owners 8-0. (Justice Brett Kavanaugh wasn’t seated at the time of oral argument.) Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the Court that “according to the ordinary understanding of how adjectives work, ‘critical habitat’ must also be ‘habitat.’” The case is sent back to the circuit court to consider if the land is habitat, among other questions.

The Justices also ruled that the critical habitat designation is subject to judicial review. One mystery is why the Trump Justice Department defended such an expansive interpretation of the law. Maybe the next Attorney General can take the career bureaucracy off autopilot.

The Justices could revisit the case if the Fifth Circuit muffs the Court’s questions. Meantime, the dusky gopher frog would have a better chance of surviving in more places if the Endangered Species Act gave private land owners an incentive to protect wildlife rather than subjecting them to years of federal legal harassment.

Appeared in the November 28, 2018, print edition.

A.1) Do you think this decision will hinder endangered species protections?  Why or why not?

Snail Darter Controversy

  1. Why did the FWS refuse to list some species after the snail darter controversy? What role did private citizens and NGOs play in the snail darter controversy?

Spotted Owl Controversy

  1. Why was the tiny NGO “Greenworld” the initiator of the spotted owl listing issue, instead of a larger, better-established group? What was the legal issue in Babbitt v. Sweet Home and what was the Court’s holding? Why is this book subtitled the “statutory ark”?

federal policy case study.

federal policy case study.

In 4-5 pages, you will examine a federal policy issue more closely. In essence, this is a case study.

Your research paper should include;

1. An opening paragraph, outlining the scope and purpose of your paper.

2. For the next section, please evaluate and explain the purpose of the legislation you chose for the case study.  Why was the legislation passed?

3. Look at what Congress has and is doing in regard to this legislation. How is the Executive Branch (ie, the bureaucracy) implementing it? Have there been any Supreme Court cases addressing this legislation? When researching, be sure to critically assess patterns and relations of power.

4. In the final critical analysis section, discuss how interest groups and individuals participate in the legislative process (This is sometimes referred to as civic engagement)? Please provide specific examples.

5. Finally, provide a conclusion summarizing your findings.

This written assignment allows me to make sure you understand the material and also fulfills your writing requirements for the course.  This assignment also highlights our learning objects critically assessing patterns and relations of power, understanding civic engagement, and understanding the branches of government.
